Level 6
Trading Standards Professional (Tobacco and Vapes)
Welcome to the bespoke Tobacco and Vapes apprenticeship. We will be delivering this Level 6 Trading Standards Professional apprenticeship programme via a series of online Workshops over a shorter, more intensive period of no longer than 29 months* (including End Point Assessment) and incorporating the new Tobacco & Vape legislation into a specialist module that all apprentices will undertake.
Our aim is to empower the apprentices to make a meaningful impact in the community more quickly. We will not compromise on quality, the curriculum will cover the same modules as the standard two and a half year programme. To achieve this, workshops in the early part will be run monthly to accelerate learning and will require a two day per week allocation for apprenticeship activities.
Apprenticeship Outcomes
Outcome for Employers
Employers develop highly capable Trading Standards professionals able to lead inspections, investigations and enforcement activity across complex regulatory areas. Apprentices strengthen evidence handling, decision making and risk-based interventions, supporting safer and fairer markets. Learning is applied directly to live regulatory work, improving consistency, professional judgement and service resilience while supporting succession planning and long-term capability within trading standards and wider regulatory services.
Outcome for Learners
Learners gain advanced legal, investigative and professional capability required for Trading Standards practice. The apprenticeship builds confidence in inspections, investigations, enforcement and stakeholder engagement, while strengthening ethical judgement and leadership behaviours. Successful completion leads to recognition by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute as a Trading Standards Practitioner, supporting progression into senior officer, specialist or management roles within trading standards and related regulatory services.
